Alter_Bridge_-_Fortress_album_coverOnce derided merely as the remains of Creed with some other guy on vocals, Alter Bridge did what Audioslave never could and finally removed the monkey from their back and stepped out of the shadow of their former band.

In Fortress, the band’s fourth effort, they’ve upped the ante in every respect. The musical core of the band is the same, it’s just everything has been given a tweak and an upgrade; the songs are a little tighter, the vocals a little bit ore impassioned, and the riffs heavier. And the results are the strongest set of songs they released so far.

Heaving hook-laden hard rock is what we’re given, featuring searing riffs, soaring vocals, that are furious, energetic and bound to be stadium filling. AB have been getting better with every release, and Fortress is probably their most compete  and consistent effort yet. Contender for hard rock album of the year.
